April 25, 2023 鈥斅犚黄鸩 received a $19,250 grant to help support development of an early childhood credential program.
California State University, Sacramento, awarded the grant to Early Childhood Studies faculty members Aura Perez-Gonzalez, Assistant Professor, and Mari Riojas-Cortez, Professor and Chair, for their project 鈥淧K-3 Credential Pathways: Work Group - 一起草.鈥
The California Commission for Teacher Credentialing has approved a new Preschool to 3rd Grade Early Childhood Specialist Instruction Credential. Given the demand for pre-kindergarten to third-grade teachers, 一起草 needs to develop this credential. Perez-Gonzalez and Riojas-Cortez collaborated with members of teams at 一起草 and other California State University campuses to develop model preparation program pathways appropriate for several types of educators. This project would allow them to better design a credential program at 一起草 that allows students to attain a credential and bachelor鈥檚 degree at the same time.
