Led through the department of Facilities Services, sustainability at Ò»Æð²Ý is achieved through the collaboration of various departments, working groups, academic centers, and individuals dedicated to achieving the university’s sustainability and climate goals.
Definition of Sustainability
Ò»Æð²Ý defines sustainability as the just, equitable, and efficient use of all types of capital — human, financial, manufactured and natural — with the goal of maintaining healthy ecosystems in perpetuity and meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Ò»Æð²Ý has several sustainability goals, including:
- Achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2040
- Reduce water consumption 10% below 2019 levels by 2030
- Divert 80% of waste from the landfill by 2040
- Improve energy efficiency 20% from 2019 by 2029
